For families & parents

Understanding each other changes families

You do not have to work it out alone.

Most parents who come to see me care deeply about their children.

They are not looking for someone to tell them how to be a better parent. They are often exhausted, worried or caught in patterns that no longer feel good, and they want help understanding what is happening beneath the behaviour.

You may be experiencing frequent conflict, challenging behaviour, anxiety, emotional outbursts or disconnection within your family. You may find yourself reacting in ways you later regret, or feel unsure how to reach a child or teenager who seems to be pulling away.

A different way of understanding your family

Family difficulties rarely belong to one person.

Each member of a family affects and is affected by the others. When we stop asking, “Who is the problem?” and begin exploring the relationships, experiences and patterns surrounding the problem, different possibilities can emerge.

My role is to help your family slow things down, understand what may be happening beneath the behaviour and find more helpful ways of responding to one another.

The goal is not a perfect family. It is greater understanding, stronger relationships and confidence in navigating the difficult moments together.

How I can support you

Family therapy

Support for families experiencing conflict, anxiety, challenging behaviour, disconnection, grief, change or difficult transitions.

We may begin with the parent or parents before deciding together whether it would be helpful to include children or teenagers. Individual sessions with a young person may also form part of the work when appropriate.

Parent coaching

Individual or couple support for parents who want to better understand recurring patterns, reduce reactivity and respond to their children with greater calm and confidence.

This may be a one-off coaching session or a series of sessions, depending on what you need.

Individual sessions

Sometimes it is helpful to work with one family member individually as part of a broader understanding of what is happening within the family.

We will talk together about the most appropriate starting point rather than assuming every family needs the same approach

Responding or Reacting?

“Am I responding to the child in front of me, or reacting from the child within me?”

When parenting feels harder than it should, something old is often being stirred. This short, warm reflection invites you to pause and understand what’s really shaping your responses.

This isn’t about fixing your child or yourself.
It’s about understanding what’s really shaping behaviour and creating space to choose differently.

You'll also receive gentle reflections along the way where we explore heartprints, family systems, and the gentle inner work that makes real relationships possible - nothing overwhelming, just thoughtful support.

"I have had six sessions with Lisa, and feel my relationship with my teenage daughter has changed dramatically. I realised I wasn't going to be taught how to be 'tougher' on my 14 year old, which is what I thought I needed. Instead, I learnt why I feel so frightened, upset and unsure of myself as a parent, and fearful of conflict. Lisa's expertise finally allowed me to see what was happening in the dynamic with my kids, and what I could change. Now I am more confident setting boundaries, and just as confident letting things go. Because I am calmer, my kids can draw on that and regulate themselves better. I feel closer and more authentic with my kids, and more confident overall."

“Seeing Lisa was one of the best decisions I made for myself. It wasn’t about being ‘broken’; it was about learning, healing and having support. I learned how to unpack my thoughts instead of fighting them, sit with my emotions instead of avoiding them, and give myself the grace I was missing. Lisa helped me gain clarity, develop healthier patterns and accept that it’s okay not to be perfect. It didn’t fix everything, but it helped me grow in ways I really needed.”

"I learned so many great skills to use in the moment with our kids. It was such a supportive environment, and it was so reassuring to know I wasn't alone in this!"

“I was fortunate enough to work with Lisa during our parenting journey, and her wisdom has stayed with me ever since. Her book and work gently explores our own “heartprints” - the experiences, beliefs and emotions that shape how we respond in difficult moments. One of the biggest takeaways for me is learning to respond to the child in front of you, rather than reacting from the child within you. If you find yourself caught in the same emotional patterns or recurring triggers, this is a beautiful invitation to pause, reflect and better understand yourself.”
